How is our little run club four years old already?! From those first runs where we’d meet you on the side of the road and could count everyone on one hand to welcoming over 70 women on a Tuesday night 💪

In four years we’ve supported hundreds of local women:

There’s honestly nothing like a home race the crowds, the cheers, and all the familiar faces along the route. Manchester, you showed up again and we loved every second!

Massive shoutout to all our amazing girls, friends and family who took on this year’s half. Whether it was your first ever race, a shiny new PB, or you were out there pacing your bestie, you absolutely smashed it!! We’re so proud and so inspired by every single one of you ✨

Beyond proud that these two amazing women are part of runtheworldMCR, we know they'll both do amazing at the Manchester @great_run in a few weeks 💓💓

The boost I needed'
Laura Cloran, who trains with the all-female runtheworldMCR club in the Monton area of Manchester, said that while she had needed a bit of persuasion to start her running journey, she had never looked back.

"I can wholeheartedly say it's has changed my life," she said.

"I'm the fittest I've ever been, and it's been so beneficial to my mental wellbeing.

"And, of course, I've found some of the best gals along the way."

She is running this year's Manchester Half Marathon for the first time and believes the support the club has given her has been essential.

Vicky Hilton, who also trains with runtheworldMCR, completed the Manchester Marathon earlier this year.

She said she would never have signed up to run more than 26 miles had it not have been for the support of her club.

"The ladies in the group have 100% inspired me to push myself and complete longer distances," she said.

"I'm nervous about running alone but less so now, as runtheworldMCR has really helped build my confidence and meet up in groups to do long runs especially."

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Walk–run sessions designed for complete beginners or those returning to running
✅ Based on the free Runna training plan (beginner plans on runna are always free 🫶🏼)
✅ Just 2 runs per week (one with us at run club!)
✅ 8-week journey finishing with a celebration parkrun graduation together 🎉

This is the perfect chance to build confidence, get fitter, and have fun with a supportive group of girls 👯‍♀️

Want to join?

This month we’re celebrating four incredible women in our running community 🏃‍♀️💖

👟 Jess & Beccie – Both joined our Move Your Way group in July, completing a 6-week RUNNA plan.
Beccie had never run before (!!) and we’ve been so impressed with her consistency and infectious positivity 🙌. Jess returned to RTW after a little break and we loved welcoming her back 💕. Both smashed their 5k at Peel parkrun, we’re SO proud!

👟 Emma – A long-time runner with us who’s now stepping up to support our run leaders. Your positive energy and commitment to the club doesn’t go unnoticed ✨

👟 Claire – Always showing up, week after week. Claire, we see you 👏! Thank you for being such a valued regular in our crew.

💌 A massive well done to all of our girls, we couldn’t be prouder! Please collect your little prize at run club (socks kindly gifted by @adanola 🧦).

I can’t believe I’m already into the last week of my 6 week plan, it’s flown by! One of the best parts has been sharing Tuesday runs with some of the @runtheworldmcr girls 💖 Huge shoutout to Beccie & Jess for completing it with me 👯‍♀️

🎉 This Saturday we’ll be celebrating with our 5k “graduation run” at @peelparkrun and we’d love you to join us! Whether you’re already on a runna plan or thinking about starting one, come along, cheer us on, or run with us. The more the merrier 🏃‍♀️💨

Running into Week 5/6 feeling strong 💪✨

The past 4 weeks have been such a great gradual build back to running and last week I finally added some much-needed strength training at Made for More’s More Mothers class (a favourite from my first mat leave 💕).

Thursday with runtheworldMUMS 👶🏼 helping each other to run with extra baby cuddles in-between

And my 3rd with Ash, so good to be back running side by side again 👯 (we might even dust off @starting2tri 👀)

🏃‍♀️ Return to Running: Week 2 Update
(Using the free 6 week @runna plan)

Not the most glamorous week of training, but a very real one. Week 2 has been powered by (very) sleepless nights, thanks to my 2 month old + 2 year old tag team 😴 lots of coffee and a brain that forgot how to plan anything efficiently 🙃 including posting this post on time 😅

I’m officially a run behind schedule 😬 and my one attempt at a Pilates session ended before it began (8 week injections = one baby who didn't want to be put down). BUT I did kick off a Power Zones program on the Peloton, which is a win for overall fitness 🙌🏼 (thanks for the recommendation Jane 🩷)

What I’ve learned this week 👉 Failing to plan really is planning to fail but with little girls, even the best plans need to be flexible. Focus on what did get done, not what didn’t.

Something that was very exciting this week was gaining my Strava verified pro badge 🥹 giving me that little boost of confidence I needed!! Remember to join our runtheworldMCR Strava club 👯‍♀️

Returning to Running – Week 1/6 ✅
with runna (their return to running plan is free)

This week I managed 3 runs, 2 Peloton rides, and daily steps well over 10k – usually with a pram, baby and toddler in tow 😅💪

The good news, my body felt better than expected 🙌
The not-so-good, I’m feeling the stiffness… so week 2 will include more stretching, yoga or Pilates with @onepeloton

I did end up cramming two runs into the weekend, not ideal. So my goal for week two is better planning so I’m not chasing miles last-minute.

Highlights
✨ Running with the @runtheworldmcr girls on Tuesday, providing each other with all the encouragement and great run chat for my first run back
✨ Finishing my final run with a blackberry picking session that turned into a crumble. Highly recommend as recovery fuel 😋 (thanks for the inspo Laura)

After every runtheworldMCR social, I’m left feeling so proud of this amazing community — not just the women who run with us, but the girls who support and uplift us all behind the scenes. 💖

From the volunteer run leaders planning new routes every week, to the team behind the sports day social gathering goodie bag bits, ordering the cake, booking venues, organising games, thank you. 🫶🏼

Our annual summer sports day didn’t quite go to plan… the sunshine didn’t show, but the smiles absolutely did. ☔️❤️
What was meant to be a sunny day of games turned into a stormy one - but over 40 incredible women still showed up with the most joyful energy. It was full of laughter, connection, and community, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more special.
Thank you to every single person who came and to the amazing brands who helped us fill those goodie bags with love. Your support means the world.
These moments remind me why we do this - and just how powerful it is when women come together. 💫💕

Big shoutout to our newly LIRF-qualified run leader, @vichil20 💥
From day one, she’s been the heart of our runs – always up for a good chat, ready to push you when you need it, and the kindest soul you could hope to run beside 💖

She got me through my first half marathon post-baby (with plenty of laughs and pep talks along the way), and somehow we were crazy enough to sign up and complete a full marathon together 🫣👟

Cycling is still a male-dominated space — but it doesn’t have to be. Less than one in three cyclists in the UK are women, and I think it’s time to change that.

So I’m starting a monthly cycling social — just for the girls.
 No pressure, no pace — just good routes, good chats, and ending with a coffee at @wandering_palate_monton

First ride: 26th July, 8am — meeting at Dukes Drive!
 If you’ve ever wanted to get into cycling but didn’t know where to start (or didn’t want to go alone), this is your sign.

Tuesday run clubs are the BEST day of the week💖

Tonight we had two runs! One 5k lead by the amazing @jessehx at a 7km pace with a few stops and then another 5k with yours truly with less stops, we even had @em_watts91 smashing her interval training plan tonight - we are all so proud of you✨

One of the best things about @runtheworldmcr has always been the amazing community — not just the girls we’ve met through running, but the wider network of inspiring women doing big things in Manchester’s health + fitness space 🫶

Running’s been a bit on pause this year🤰🏼but I’ve LOVED staying a little bit active with reformer Pilates. It’s been a great way to stay strong for when I return to running 🏃‍♀️✨

Shout out to the wonderful Ana 🩷 — my fave instructor and the Manager behind the new Reformer Studios launching in Manchester, starting with Altrincham (opening this weekend 👀)!

She invited me down for a sneak peek with other mums + mums-to-be. The studio is stunning and it was so lovely to meet Holly, their amazing female founder, bringing this concept up from the Midlands 💫

They’re offering free taster sessions so if you fancy a little wellness morning out to Altrincham, have a peek at the timetable! Can’t wait to join the postpartum classes soon 🙌

And yes… I’m a sucker for a cute new pair of socks 🧦💕
