After a less successful training block than expected, I adjusted my expectations (originally a sub 2 PB) and set out to have a great day, running alongside one of my best friends - what more could you want!

Race organisation
As you would expect for a huge race like MCR Half, the race was well organised with road closures in place and plenty of toilets en-route. The finish line was slightly chaotic but this was down to my inability to follow a one way system!
Route
The race started at Trafford, heading in to town along Deansgate for a switch back to head back through Stretford down to Sale and back via Chorlton to the finish. The race was so well supported and particular highlight for me was the endless sweets offered by spectators in Sale!

Goodies
In the interests of sustainability, you had to buy a finishers tee but the medal was enough for me! There were 36 varieties of finisher medal on offer as you crossed the finish line - they even had a medal swap tent for those who wanted a specific one! As well as this there was bottles of water, protein bars, non-alcoholic beer and energy drinks.

Personal thoughts
I was delighted to finish the race with a huge smile on my face and zero disappointment.
It might not have been a PB but it was certainly a HB (happiness best) for me and ultimately, we run for fun so I'm all up for more HBs in the future! This is my last proper race of the year and I'm looking forward to unstructured running for fun and getting strong at the gym!
